What is a globe valve?
A globe valve is used to stop, start and regulate flow in a pipeline. Globe valves are also known as throttle valves.
Compared to gate valves, globe valves are designed to open and close more quickly, but they also have a slightly higher pressure drop rating than gate valves.
A globe valve is easy to maintain and all parts are easily accessible.
In terms of weight, globe valves are generally heavier than other valves with the same pressure rating.
The price of a globe valve is higher than a gate- or ball valve in the same materials, but these valves are only suitable to stop or start a flow.
In situations where a flow needs to be adjusted regurarly, a globe valve is probably the best choice.
Materials:
DIN-EN standard Globe valves are normally manufactured in:
- Stainless steel
- Bronze
- Brass
- Cast iron
- Cast steel
