BS4825-4 IDF Couplings info

 

The IDF type of coupling has been specially developed by the International Dairy Federation to make a 100% hygienic connection where bacteria have no chance to settle.

IDF couplings are mainly used in the food industry and dairy because this type of coupling meets the high hygienic requirements that apply there.

 

An IDF coupling ensures a gap-free connection between the various process pipe parts. A rubber seal with a T-shaped cross section perfectly fills up the surface of connection. This makes this type of coupling very suitable for CIP (Cleaning In Place) and SIP (Steralization In Place).

The parts that come into contact with the process medium (liner and male part) are made of 316 grade stainless steel by means of CNC machining. The nut is usually made in 304 grade stainless steel.

Like other hygienic fittings, the roughness of internal surface does not exceed Ra = 0.8 μm.
